New knitter in town #Review

ClassicallyByJordan is a new Etsy shop set up by Jordan, who proclaims she's "always looking for a DIY project".

Her attention to detail is notable right from the start with her thoughtfully cohesive packaging!
I had chosen this attractive $10CAD stack of 13 environmentally conscious facial pads in hand-knitted cotton squares of soft colors intertwined with white yarn. This 3.5 inches by 3.5 inches breed is of a larger size for those larger tasks. You can gauge the depth of the bundle here:

ClassicallyByJordan's products are available in an assortment of shades including this chic arrangement:

Jordan warns, "Never put in dryer to avoid the risk of shrinking them." Wish I knew that a little earlier before I shrank a few of my crocheted scrubbies from another brand! Included with every order is a pack of Soak, a ground-breaking no-rinse wash for your delicate textiles.

Everything's coming up roses #Review

Look what promptly came in the mail today!
Ta-da! Say hello to AnnieBritches, an Etsy shop started by Jen springing from her own experiences with her daughter Annie.
You'll find these eco-friendly reusable wipes will have many clean-up jobs in your household. $13.37CAD will get you a dozen of these versatile single sided sheets made of ultra soft flannel squares completed by rounded serge edges. The slightly fuzzy material is especially suitable for sensitive baby skin!
This is seriously one of the coolest fabric prints I've encountered. Classic artistic garden roses in eternally sophisticated grey are exquisite against a modern electric yellow background.
Utterly gorgeous!
This silly sushi set is delightful too!

Cinderella dreams #Review

I may not be a very avid DIYer, but nevertheless, my sewing kit was lacking a pincushion; so I was on the lookout for this essential item when I chanced by these $15.97CAD whimsical pumpkins from PinkChampagneStudio.
Straying from the traditional tomato, this pumpkin shape still applies the same principals but in a refreshing twist.
Green felt leaves are secured down by clear bead dewdrops atop a plumply stuffed body of vintage white roses in full bloom upon a fall harvest rust cotton background. The sturdy filling is natural, unbleached wool roving.

Certainly this mysteriously beautiful pincushion can help me to sew what I've dreamt up in my head into reality!

Evergreen #Review

Good morning!

Kathy and Eryn of Etsy shop SoulSoapMuskoka sent a sample trio pack of their earth toned bamboo/wool blend make-up remover scrubbies for my review. These are a reusable environmentally friendly replacement for disposable cotton balls.
Because of the bamboo in the yarn, their finished product is incredibly soft, supple, and cushy beyond expectations! You can definitely feel the difference in quality as compared to similar face scrubs from their competitors. Bamboo is naturally antibacterial, a renewable resource, and over many years, is biodegradable!
I really like the Evergreen color too (You may have noticed I like anything that matches my hair color of the moment)! At $5 for a pack of 7 to get you through a week, these little hand-crocheted rounds come in a myriad of shades as shown here:

Included as well was this sample of SoulSoapMuskoka's lovely rose soap! The delicate natural scent is divine!

Whole miniature rosebuds are embedded as a topping like the final touch on a piece of cake!

Their anti-inflammatory and antioxidant Green Tea soap also looks really enticing!

A whale of a time #Review

I'm reclined on the veranda sheltered by lifeboats watching seaplanes take-off. Various watercraft float by giving the illusion that the ship I'm onboard is moving while I know we're docked. Rolling waves twinkle in the warm sunlight. As of yet I have not experienced a real good whale-watch moment.
The only sea creature in my line of sight is this $20CAD baby whale stuffed toy from Etsy store TabbynSkatesTabbynSkates is named after after a twist in the owner's 2 daughters' nicknames Abby 'n Kate!
The whale is made from colorful cotton print and swirly fluffy backing. A squeaky tummy adds excitement and ribbon spout and fins give baby fingers something to fiddle with. The fins also harbor a surprise! If you pull on the ribbons, out pops a pram leash! How delightfully innovative! The attached latch gab accommodates most baby rings and a KAM snap closure hides away the pram leash when not in use.
Such a well constructed toy in tastefully coordinated soft blues and yellows!

Retro is timeless #Review

Pam's chill attitude Etsy store PositiveHarmony exudes boho living in everyday essentials. Her package arrived with an endearing handmade card which makes for a deep impression!
This reversible psychedelic pattern baby bib is resplendent in a laid back way with it's calm nature inspired tones presented in a whirlwind of geometry.
Generously sized for maximum coverage, it packs plenty of practicality.
There is also a layer of felt in between the green and brown cotton for an absorbant boost! At $8.00CAD, this bib's attention to detail is unsurpassed!

Lavender lullaby #Review

Blueberry season is in full bloom and the pickings are bountiful! Fresh from the farm fruit are the sweetest. Look at these little bubble bursts of flavor!
Just the right timing for a photo op with Kelly's $19.57CAD hand-crocheted in 100% cotton lavender, sky blue, and white colorway yarn wooden bead teething necklace from Itsy Owlphants

Moms lead busy lives. Teething necklaces try to keep baby busy too. Colors and textures are meant to stimulate their curiosity and apply their fine motor skills. One product for both parties! Happy baby = happy mom.

For the nature conscious family, you'll be glad to read these next details regarding the safeness of materials. The beads are all natural, non-toxic, and unfinished shima superba wood; schima superba is an evergreen tree belonging to the tea family!

A trip down memory lane #Review

I got in touch with Shannon at Etsy Shop ConcordLaneCritters which is venture comprised of individuals who are passionate about designing and creating unique gifts.
This group of artists take Mother Gooses' Humpty Dumpty for a spin in this fabric. The print frolics with characters from the classic nursery rhyme.

Made into this luxurious baby bib and burp cloth set in 100% cotton and backed by super soft pristine white minky, feeding time will be kept clean, comfortable, and have a fantastically fun twist! I can't begin to do justice to how special these products look and feel in person!

Also available in matching blanket as shown here:

Smitten mittens #Review

I remember I gave knitting a try many years ago and managed only a few arduous inches of tangled yarn and dropped stitches before I gave up. I'll leave the yarn experts to their calling. Essie makes the darn cutest crochet thumbless baby mittens for her Etsy shop crochetbyessie. She said she'd send me her prettiest pair so I left it up to her to surprise me!

This  pastel pink, white, and seafoam green candy colored striped and frilly cuffed mini mitts for newborns delight the eyes with their frivolity. These darlings are a classic item that I wish i could boast I made myself for my baby but instead were good-naturedly gifted to me. Essie's mittens come in every color combination conceivable and more! Right now, each order comes with a free gift of equal or lesser value. At $7.83CAD you can head over to crochetbyessie's to snap up a pair and marvel at how small your child's hands are at one point in life. Cherish the precious moments.

Double dare #Review

I went along on a treetop ziplining excursion as part of a crowd-pleasing general consensus group outing. I'm definitely not as adventurous as I used to be. This $8.99CAD mischievous animals hanging onto swoops of banner bunting toddler bib is about as much dangly as I'd comfortably like to stomach. Let these playful foxes and owls do the messing around!
Visually, this baby piece is gender neutral at it's best. Beyond looking great, this toddler bib is also constructed with the mentality of a mother. Both the 100% cotton front and the soft absorbent chocolate brown terry cloth backing has been pre-washed to minimize shrinkage.

Laughter is the best medicine #Review

Tonight the Indonesian crew put on a comedic cultural show. They looked like their concept was just to have a lot of fun and not take themselves too seriously.
Joanna's Etsy shop JoEEBaby does a sensational job in seeking out cheeky fabrics that will put a grin on your face. The peeping owls from tree trunk cubby holes print was what drew me to these adorable pair of baby home slippers. The big-eyed cartoon creatures will hold watch over your baby's tiny toes to make sure they're both warm and pretty!
The brand name sewn into the lining of one shoe is a well incorporated detail. Angelic white inner lining is of a soft fuzzy material for that extra touch of coziness!
$26CAD will get you the basic coordinating cotton fabric sole shown above; $30CAD for the upgrade to non-slip. Go grab your lovely little bundle of joy a bit of joy!

Feature forestry #Review

I'm travelling through slow drifting landscapes this week. Canada's tranquil backdrop fosters a certain spirit. Kirsten is a self proclaimed sewing enthusiast taught by her Nanny. I saw her proudly Canadian Etsy store TheFreshBabyBoutique carrying a fabric that gives shoppers a glimpse into our homegrown heritage.
This $9.50CAD baby bib's lively woodland animals frolic against a stormy grey background, capturing the essence of our true North strong and free wildlife and rugged coastline.
Mossy green dotted minky on the reverse adds absorbent functionality; this is a bib afterall.

This July 1st is both Canada Day and Kirsten's 2nd year business birthday! Happy Canada Day to all and congrats to Kirsten on her success!
